MANCIL DUVAL SANDIDGE
Psalm 27:4
"One thing that I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Born February 18, 1939 in Amherst County to the late Mancil A. and Maggie Rose Sandidge, Duval transitioned to God's kingdom on April 16, 2010 at his home, 121 Mt. Olive Rd, Amherst.
Those left to cherish precious memories are his faithful wife Jean Higginbotham, devoted son Marvin Sandidge (Shelia), daughter Malvina Jackson, faithful brother Carroll Sandidge (Julia Ann), grandchildren, Fredricka Martin (Michael), Robert "Bobby" Walker all of Madison Heights and Allison Walker, Richmond, Uncle Moses Sandidge (Evelyn), Aunt Mary Sandidge.
Duval joined St. Peter Baptist Church at age 12 and served faithfully on the Men's Chorus, President of the Senior Choir, participate annually in the Amherst County Relay for Life. Ministering in song was a joy to him. He helped out whenever work needed to be done at St. Peter.
Graduating from Amherst County Training School, Duval attended Morgan State University. He retired from the Va. Dept of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Service Technician where he received numerous certificates and awards. Duval enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 19, 2010 at St. Peter Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Dr. Margaret Nelson officiating. The interment will be in the Christian Aid Cemetery, Amherst. The family will receive friends today from 6-7 at St. Peter Baptist Church. Expression of condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com
