God Went walking in His garden on Monday September 3, 2012. The sun was shinning, the sky was clear and blue; a really warm day for the heart of the summer season. He stretched forth his mighty hand, "Betty come and go with me." God said in a soothing voice "You can share your warm smile, and make Heaven rejoice"
Mrs Mamie Betty Rucker McDaniel took her Savior by the hand and entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 3, 2012. She was born January 31, 1954 in Amherst, VA. A daughter of Mamie S. Rucker and the late Joseph Rucker, Jr. She was preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Yamon Rucker.
Betty's life was always an ongoing celebration of Love, Sharing with Family, Church and Friends.
Betty acknowledged Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Timothy Baptist Church at a young age and as an active member till her death she served as usher, on the Senior Choir and on the Hospitality Committee.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas McDaniel, III of 21 years of marriage; two sons, Christopher Rucker (Michelle) and James Rucker (Tina) of Lynchburg; one stepson, Thomas (Monica) McDaniel; one stepdaughter, Melinda Davis (Rex) of Hodges, VA; four brothers, James E. Rucker, Donell (Shirley) Rucker, both of Lynchburg, Otha Rucker of Amherst, and Steven Rucker, of Monroe, VA; two sisters, Alberta (William) Waugh, of Madison Heights and Bernice Rucker of Lynchburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one uncle, Dealy Smith; one sister-in-law, Corrine White; a devoted great-nephew, Chris White and a host of other nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Timothy Baptist Church with Rev. Scottie Craft, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
