Mamie Kidd Tinsley, 80, of Appomattox, Virginia departed this life on October 19, 2023, at Lynchburg, General Hospital. She was born on November 10, 1942, in Gladstone, Virginia to the late Melvin and Mable Kidd. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Percy Kidd, Floyd Kidd, Allen Kidd, and James Kidd; and three sisters, Ethel Braxton, Zella Jordan, and Irena Glover.

Mamie joined Second Mineral Springs Baptist Church at an early age. Later in life, she joined Springfield Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Ashley (Amanda) Kidd of Appomattox and Bradley (Verna) Kidd of Gladys; three daughters, Regina (Michael) Pennix of Appomattox, Tiffany (Gregory) Kidd, and Denise (Kam) Carr both of Lynchburg, VA; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doretha Megginson, and Jean Franklin; a devoted niece, Roslyn Megginson; a special friends, Loretta Pennix; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Springfield Baptist Church, Appomattox, VA. Interment will be at 2104 Watt Abbitt Road. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
