Lynwood "Rocky" Saunders, 71, departed this life peacefully on February 01, 2023. He was born in Lynchburg, VA to the late Albert Saunders, Sr., and Geneva Lewis Saunders. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Saunders; son, Lynwood Tony Saunders; and a host of other brothers and sisters.

Lynwood was educated in Lynchburg City Schools. He drove for the Boxley Company, Salam Medical Transportation; and Lynchburg City School Bus Transportation.

Lynwood was a devoted member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church until his health declined. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching his Westerns, Andy Griffith, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and The Rifle Man.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Laura Garland of Lynchburg, VA; grandsons, Na'Quan and Sai'Quan Hannon; 4 sisters, Julia Paige, Marguerite Payne (Delaware), Cora Ross (William), and Mabel Saunders all of Lynchburg; one brother, John Saunders; sisters-in-law, Martha Ross of Lynchburg, VA and Frances Matthews of Lorton, VA; and brother-in-law, Robert Matthews of Lynchburg, VA. Devoted friends of Rocky aka "Fat Buddy, Tiffany Taylor, RaeMonique Hunter, and Sarayah Lambert; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends. Lynwood will be truly missed.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 09, 2023, at Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Saunders will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
