Lynn Giles Thompson, age 51, of Arrington, VA, transitioned to be with the Lord Friday, July 7, 2023, after a gradual decline in health. Lynn was born October 9, 1971, in Charlottesville, VA. Lynn joined the Little Zion Baptist Church in Arrington, VA where she was a faithful member—serving on the choir for numerous years before moving her letter of membership to Oakhill Baptist Church.
Lynn graduated from Nelson County High School in 1990 and attended Piedmont Community College for two years. Lynn worked at the UVA Medical Center as a Receptionist and worked at Whalen's Family Day Home as a Child Care Provider. Lynn also started her own independent food catering service (Lynn's Kitchen) for the employees at BWXT, where her home-cooking specialty dinners and her homemade cakes became well-known and famous. Lynn was also a homeschool teacher, administrator, and principal for Maya and Jaden until transferring them to a private online Homeschool academy. Lynn loved shopping and baking with her family and spending time with her siblings.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Walter Rudolph Giles, brother, Carl Edward Giles, and sister, Debbie Marion Giles. Lynn leaves to cherish memories her loving husband of 17 years, John D. "Mike" Thompson, Jr.; her two precious children, Maya and Jaden; goddaughter, Gabbie Gaines; mother, Pauline Giles; five brothers, Russell Giles of North Carolina, Sherman Giles (Janie) of Fredericksburg, VA, Ronnie Giles (Carlita) of Arrington, VA, Roy Giles of Arrington, VA, and Mark Giles (Angie) of Amherst, VA; Five sisters, Gail Whalen (John) of Arrington, VA, Gwendolyn Pendleton (Ricky) of Amherst, VA, Annie Chambers of Lovingston, VA, Cheryl Giles of Arrington, VA, and Renee Giles of Charlottesville, VA; Father and Mother-in-law, John & Geneva Thompson of Arrington, VA; one sister-in-law, Camisha Jones (Chris) of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2023, at Oakhill Baptist Church. Interment will be held in the Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
