On January 1, 2023, New Year's Day at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital Lula May Stamps, affectionately known as, Mama Lu to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren slipped beyond the veil into the awaiting arms of her heavenly Father.
She was born on November 25, 1938, to her loving and doting parents, Virginia Hughes Carpenter and John Raymond Carpenter of Amherst, VA. She was the baby of 8 children.
Lula was educated in the public school system of Amherst, VA, and graduated from Amherst High School.

Lula grew an affinity that quickly turned into a passion for sewing and became a professional seamstress in her own right. She has always had a green thumb and loved growing and cultivating flowers. She was an active member of Anchor Net Social Club for over 15 years.
Lula became a lifetime member of the historical Court Street Baptist Church spanning over 40 years.
