Obituary

Lula M. Grooms "Brownie" passed away this earthly life July 10, 2014 @ 4:30 PM at UVA Hospital. She was born July 22, 1945 to the late Robert T. Haynes and Marie Hendricks Haynes. She was also preceded in death to by her husband, James H. Grooms
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, one loving and devoted daughter, Kathy Bennett, of Madison Heights, Shelly Smith, of Amherst and Lou Holloway, of Georgia; two sons, Kenneth Haynes and James Preston Grooms, both of Amherst; three sons-in-law, Joe Bennett, Brandy Smith and Lester Holloway; one loving and devoted sister, Sophie (Eugene) Douglas, of Madison Heights; a loving and caring friend, James "Jack" Carter, of Amherst; six grandchildren, Shakana Poe, Tereika Grooms, Janae Bennett, Lamall Brown, D'Angelo Brown and Rachel Holloway; three great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ruth (Howard) Randolph, Beulah (Buddy) Butler, of Madison Heights and Inez Haynes, of Lynchburg and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Piney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Cousins, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Ernest Scott, as eulogist. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 146 Rose Lane, Madison Heights, VA 24572. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
