Lucy R. Rucker, 82, of Madison Heights, VA died peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born June 6, 1934 in Lynchburg to the Robert H. and Agnes R. Rucker. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Serita Y. Rucker and devoted friend of thirty years, James Brown.
Lucy was an employee of GE and Ericsson Co. and retired after twenty-five years of service. She loved her church, 5th Street Baptist Church and was a faithful member on the gospel choir.
She is survived by her son, Robert A. Rucker (Carolyn) of Crew, VA; a devoted daughter, Gloria A. Rucker, of Madison Heights, VA; two granddaughters, Katrina G. Hoadley (Joel), of Eldersburg, MD and Latonya G. Griffin (Rodney), of Wake Forest, NC; she is also survived by those she called her daughters, Lily Johnson (Nelson), Kelerta Johnson and Joy Jones (Moe); sons, Kenny Jackson, Martin Payne, Dodd Jones, Henry Williams and Richard McDaniel; one niece, Ida Slaughter; two great nieces, Kim Brown and Pam Sihlangu, all of Lynchburg, VA; three great nephews, Clarence Brown (Denise), of Lynchburg, Derrick and Andre Williams, of Louisville, KY and as well as her loving dog, Rocco and a host of relatives friends.
