Lucy Vaughn Parson of 1501 Taylor Street, Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Lucy was the daughter of the late Edward and Millie Brew. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, William Brew, David Brew, Moses Brew, Sam Brew, Lewis Brew, Robert Brew and Duvall Brice; three sisters, Margaret Royal, Helen Sims, Kitty Brew and one granddaughter Sonja Anne Stewart Winfield.
At an early age Lucy married Royster Parson and from that union a daughter, Barbara Ann Parson (Stewart) was born. The apple of her parents eyes.
Lucy was educated in the Campbell County Public School System and worked for the Hare and Gerhardt families for many years until her retirement.
In retirement Lucy enjoyed traveling to see her sisters in Washington, DC with her daughter. She would sit on her front porch and wave and talk to everyone who crossed 15th and Taylor Street. She enjoyed walking across the street talking to her brother (CB) sharing childhood memories. Lucy mothered many children in her 92 years of life. Some of whom were family members and others who drew near to her because of the love she shared so freely. She was a member of the Sorrell Social Club and a life time member of the NAACP.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Stewart of Lynchburg, Virginia; great-grand daughter Ginny Winfield of Washington, DC; Two sisters Bessie Dennis and Mildred Smith of Washington, DC; one brother Senator Brew of Lynchburg, Virginia. A host of nieces, nephews, Great and Great, Great Nieces and Nephews, other beloved family members and friends that was so very dear to her heart. One play sister, Ellen Burks and best friend Frances Mae Banks.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Peaceful Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Everhart, officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Burial Park. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com. Service of comfort rendered Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
