Lorraine Davis Nowlin (Popie) of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on September 7, 1941 to the late Clyde Davis and Teddie Freeman Smith, and step-father, Walter Smith.
She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother, four aunts, three uncles, one cousin, one granddaughter and a brother-in-law.
Lorraine spent many years of employment in health care, as a school bus driver for Lynchburg City Schools and served as transportation for the Henley Home for Adults.
Those left to cherish her memories are eight children, Roger Davis, Patricia Davis, Valerie Brown, James Witcher (Christina), Curtis Witcher, Andrea Davis, Etta Lawhorne and Crissy Saunders; a devoted brother, James Davis (Patricia); seven brothers and sisters, Earl Davis, Harry Davis, Clyde Davis, Clydia Dew, Ora Graves, Dorothy Monroe and Mary King, all of Pittsylvania County; one step-son, Edward Witcher; devoted friend, Nanny Charlton and Edwina Horsley; 33 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 Pm Saturday, March 29, 2013 at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Elder James Witcher, officiating and Elder Cleveland Joyner as Eulogist.
