"Boo" Evans, Sr.
January 9, 1938 – July 3, 2022
Lloyd H. Evans, Sr., affectionately known as "Boo" by all who knew him, was born January 9, 1938, departed this life on July 3, 2022 at his home with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Norvell and Beatrice Evans, Sr., his siblings Floyd Evans, Eleanor Evans-Hunter, Beatrice Allen, and Charlotte Thomas. Three children Sylvia Evans-Gilliam, Stephon D. Evans and John Pennix. Boo attended Amherst County Public Schools and worked at Griffin Pipe Foundry for a long period of time.
"Boo" accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Scott Zion Baptist Church. He was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church, Madison Heights, VA, where he served as a Trustee for many years. Boo was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, favorite uncle, great friend, and a hard-working man of God. Family and friends loved him for his insightful storytelling which were a combination of humor and life lessons. He loved to listen to gospel music on the radio, watch Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud with Steve Harvey, and fix meals for his WIFE as she aged with grace and beauty.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 53 years, Gracie Evans and his children; devoted daughter, Frances (Frank) Dawson, Jr. of Spout Springs, VA, Marilyn Jackson, South Chesterfield, VA, Lloyd (Cynthia) Evans, Jr., Henrico, VA, Wanda (Kojo) Dadzie-Coleman, Todd (Tiffany) Evans, both of McKenney, VA. Blanch (Lawrence) Taylor, Emma Townes, Sharon Bolling of Petersburg, VA, Bernard Evans, Madison Heights, VA, and Willie Ann Woodson; along with 29 Grandchildren; 52 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, a very special Aunt, Mrs. Clara McDaniel, who he loved and would call and check on frequently, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He also leaves to cherish his memorable life, his siblings whom he loved dearly; Shirley Megginson, Glory E. Williams, Norvell (Ruby) Evans, II, William Evans, Esther (Theodore) Holland, and devoted sister Lillie Eggleston all of Madison Heights, VA. Amy John, (New York), Richard (Evelyn) Evans (New Jersey), Katherine (Nathaniel) Scott (Rustburg, VA).
Special recognition to his two devoted Granddaughters; Ashley Woodson and Marie Ferguson and a devoted Nephew, Robert "Bob" Eggleston who aided and provided support during his hospice care.
A homegoing celebration will be held 11:00AM Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Fairmont Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
