Linwood H. Richerson "Foots" of Amherst passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born in Amherst on February 7, 1943 and he was the son of the late Matilda and Robert Richerson, Jr.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roosevelt Richerson.

Linwood was a member of Piney Hill Baptist Church. Linwood enjoyed being with family and friends. Some of his pastime passions were watching television, hunting, fishing, dancing, gardening and most of all joking.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda F. Richerson and to that union four sons were born, Tracey (Valencia), Campbell, of Fredericksburg, Antonio (Angela) Richerson, Sr., Eric (Renee) Richerson and Brandon Richerson all of Amherst; four grandchildren, Shaquita Campbell, Chelsea Richerson, AJ Richerson and Enrico Richerson; two sisters, Mary (Clarence) Douglas and Florence (Joe) Douglas; a devoted brother, James Earl (Elenora) Richerson all of Amherst; a devoted friend Marvin Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Piney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Rucker, Pastor, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
