Lewis Alexander Washington, Sr., 84, of Madison Heights entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2013 at Amherst Dialysis Center, The Lord stop by and took Lewis by the hand and said, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord. (Matthew 25:21)
He was born November 21, 1928 in Piedmont, West Virginia and was the son of the late Hennis Taylor and Martha Washington.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his two sons, Gregory and Dennis "Sandy" Ford; one brother, Robert Washington and two sisters, Izella Jessie and Lorraine Kitcart.
Lewis was untied in holy matrimony to Trudy on December 17, 1967 and to this union was born, Lawrence Ford, Lewis "Dyoud" Jr., Christopher "Jahlil" Washington; three daughters, Priscilla "Ford" McIver, Theresa Ford and Lucinda Ford; three brothers, William Washington, Richard Washington and Tyrone Washington; four grandsons, Darico, Malik, Jabree and Travis; three granddaughters, Sade, Shieka and Chrisha; one great-grand daughter, Nevaeh and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 27, 2013 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Rodney Harris, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Rodney Sandidge, as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at the residence.
