On Friday morning, January 16th 2015, God sent down his angels for Lester Ferguson of Atlanta, GA, Formerly of Lynchburg. Lester was born on July 11, 1927, in Appomattox, VA the son of the late OK and the Late Nannie McCoy Ferguson. He was the husband of Cornelia F. Ferguson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren H. Ferguson, Sr; four sisters, Eppsie F. Woodson, Eunice F. Ferguson, Hazel F. Ferguson and Bernice F. Madison; a brother-in-law, Conley Ferguson and a sister-in-law, Patricia F. Jordan.
He was baptized at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Concord, VA. Lester graduated from the Carver High School, Appomattox, VA. After his marriage he joined the White Rock Baptist Church. He was a faithful member serving on the Trustee Board until his health began to fail. He was employed at Lynchburg Foundry for over thirty years.
Lester was a loving husband; a caring father, a wonderful brother, an understanding uncle and a true friend. He wore a glowing smile and never met a stranger. Lester leaves to cherish his memory his wife Cornelia F. Ferguson; a daughter, Gwendolyn F. Stokes; a son, Francell Alvin Ferguson; a devoted grandson, Marc Bates; two granddaughters, Jade and Jordon Ferguson all of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Horace "Mac" Ferguson of Lynchburg and Manley Ferguson, Sr. of Concord, VA; two sisters, Eleanor "Jenny" Davis of Lynchburg and Sadie F. Wooding of Concord; two sisters-in-law, Norma Ferguson, of Hay Market, VA and Pedether F. Wheaton (Albert) of Lynchburg and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
