LARRY GRAY SMITH, affectionately known as Huck, of 1209 Rose Mill Road, Amherst, VA, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 13, 2009. He was born April 26, 1960 in Charlottesville, VA. He was the son of the late Silas Smith and the late Mildred Rose Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Silas Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Jonathan Martin of Amherst, VA; two sisters, Shirley Tucker (William) of Amherst, VA and Gloria Smith of Arrington, VA; one sister-in-law, Janet Smith two aunts, Betty Myers and Rosalie Tolliver both of Arrington, VA; one great-aunt, Bessie Diggs of Irvin, PA; four nephews, Thomas Smith (Opal) of Madison Heights, VA, Carlos Tucker of Lynchburg, VA, Robert "Neil" Morse and Terence Morse, both of Arrington, VA; one step-nephew, William "Dunk" Tucker; one niece, Candice Vest (Kent) of Arrington, VA; one great-nephew, Xavier Smith of Madison Heights, VA; one great-niece, Mykala Smith of Madison Heights, VA; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 18, 2009 at St. Mary's Baptist Church, Lowesville, with Rev. Robert Cabell, officiating. The interment will be in the Rose Family Cemetery.
