Obituary

Kerine Mallory Jenkins Anderson , of Rustburg, Virginia—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—entered her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Kerine lived a life of unwavering faith and love, a beautiful tapestry woven with devotion to her family and kindness to all who knew her. She is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband of 67 years, Norvell L. Anderson, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Born April 21, 1938, to the late George and Lizzie Burrell Jenkins, Kerine was baptized at an early age at Cross Road Baptist Church in Evington, VA, where she served faithfully for many years. Her service included teaching youth church, leading Vacation Bible School, serving on the food committee and usher board, and singing in the Senior Choir until a decline in her health. She was also a longtime member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).

The youngest of seven children, Kerine was a determined and hardworking woman who would do anything for anyone. On February 16, 1954, she married the love of her life, Norvell, Sr. Together, they raised five children and opened their hearts and home to many foster children and extended family members.

Kerine worked for Imperial Reading and General Electric Company, later serving as a domestic worker for several families, including Paul and Betsy Sackett, who embraced her and her family. After retirement, she volunteered at Lynchburg General Hospital, assisting in the gift shop and with administrative duties.

Kerine loved life and cherished time with her children and grandchildren. She had a love for plants and gardening, enjoyed crafts, family game nights, road trips, and never missed an opportunity for a shopping adventure, the queen of finding a deal. Her vibrant spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Wayman Jenkins, Nayman Jenkins, Olethia Roberson, A.L. Jenkins, Jr., Ernest Jenkins, and Lelar Bowling. She leaves to cherish her memory: sister-in-law, Ann McCoy (Mitchell); three sons: Norvell Anderson, Jr., Calvin Anderson (Jacqueline), Mauri Anderson (Mallory); two daughters: Angela Rose (Larry) and Stacy Anderson; 7 grandsons: Lee Anderson (Myesha), Timmy Anderson (Summer), Marcus Rose, Cedric Anderson (Andrea), Corey Rose, Kirby Anderson, and Jaden Anderson; 4 granddaughters, Robin Anderson, Kyla Rose, Mia Anderson, and Tia Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

"We look forward to seeing her on the other side of the river, walking with our Lord and Savior."
