Kenneth Alphonso Smith of Richmond, formerly of Lynchburg passed on peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord at MCV Hospital on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the age of 57.
Alphonso which he liked to be called was born June 1, 1958 to the Virginia L. Smith and the late James A. Smith, Sr. and surviving mother Virginia L. Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Smith, Jr. and a brother, James H. Gregory.
Those left to Cherish his memory are his son, Michael P. James, of Lynchburg; mother, Virginia Smith, of Lynchburg; seven sisters, Linda Keyes, Gloria Smith, Rosa Smith, all of Lynchburg, Barbara Smith, of Atlavista, Mary Gregory, of Blackstone, Lillian Coleman and Mary Frances Massey, of Wilmington, DE; three brothers, James A. Smith, III, of Lynchburg, William Gregory, of Blackstone and Robert Gregory, of Crew; one aunt, Elaine Johnson; one uncle, Calvin Smith, of Lynchburg and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Rev. Edward Jones, officiating. The interment will be in the Veteran's Cemetery at a later day.
