Obituary

Mrs. Katherine Davis departed this earthly home on early Sunday morning, August 31, 2025, at Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lynchburg, VA. God saw that she was weary and sent his heavenly angels to bring her home to glory. Mrs. Davis was a loving, caring, and Christian mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved the Lord and was not ashamed to tell people about the goodness of God. She loved her family very much and always wanted to know how each one was doing.

She was a long-standing, faithful, and devoted member of the Peaceful Baptist Church for 61 years under the leadership of three Pastors during her time. Her current Pastor, Reverend Dr. Mark Everhart and Mrs. Everhart, who was very faithful and dedicated in visiting our mother at the nursing home and call the family to check on her. She was a faithful member of the senior choir for many years for which she loved the members.

She stayed very active and chose to walk a lot until her health failed. Although she never gave up her independence, she had the mindset of "I can do it myself" attitude.

Her husband, Kervin V. Davis preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two loving daughters who cared for her up until her death: Mrs. Kervinie Alexander and Mrs. Lamore Beverley (Sherwood); sister, Mrs. Ernestine Scott; grandchildren, James Alexander, IV (DaShonna), Jeremey Alexander (Latasha), Michael Beverley, Mrs. Tamecia Moore (Shawn), and Terry Beverley. Eight great-grandchildren, J'Nyia Alexander, Hakeem Alexander, Krislin Beverley, Valdez Stewart, II, William St. Clair Beverley, Jacob Beverley, Alexis Beverley, and Michael Beverley, II; and three great-great grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Mrs. Madeline Davis. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and her friends and former co-workers. She kept in touch with her church family of friends and her former co-workers for a very long time during her stay in the nursing home.

Everyone loved our mom because she was a loving Christian woman who cared about people and always spoke a kind word. We know our mom has a new body now and was happy to meet her Savior.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Peaceful Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Burial Park.
