On Tuesday, March 07, 2023, the life of Juliana Smith, 58, closed on Earth and she began a beautiful new journey with God. Born August 23, 1964, she was the daughter of Otha Rucker and Jacqueline Richardson. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mamie Rucker; maternal grandparents, George and Annie Smith; aunts, Alice Pannell, Margaret Horsley, Alberta Waugh, and Mamie R. McDaniel; and uncle, Ed Rucker.

Ann accepted Christ at an early age at Timothy Baptist Church, where she attended services regularly until her health declined. She worked alongside the hospitality committee and provided guidance to the young adult choir.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Alvin A. Wright (LaChae); grandchildren, Jeremiah Davis, Azaiah Wright, Karissa Wright, Layla Wright, and Isaiah Wright; siblings, Marie Jordan, Stella Richardson, Linette Richardson, Rebecca Canada, Michael Smith, Vincent Smith, and Terrence Rose. She also leaves to cherish her memory her uncles, Steve Rucker and Donnell Rucker; aunts, Annie M. Smith of Washington, D.C., Cordine Rose, and special aunt, Bernice Rucker (David); special friends, Evangeline Waugh, Elaine Wright, and Alvin E. Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, with a special thanks to Dr. Cecilia MacCallum.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Timothy Baptist Church, Amherst, VA. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Masks required.
