Obituary

Julia Verbeana Lee Sandidge "Verb", 90, of Amherst, Va, was called to be with Lord on Friday, February 8, 2013. She was born November 5, 1922. The youngest of seven to the late Henry Novell Lee and Mildred Kent Lee. She met and married the late Russell E.Sandidge, this union resulted thirteen children, six girls and seven boys.
She joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst, Va, at an early age. Julia was a faithful member serving on the Gospel Chorus and working on the Benevolent Mission until she could serve no more. Julia graduated from Amherst Training School. She was a former employee of Ryans Nursing Home, Elliott Dry Cleaners, retiring from Old Dominion Box Company. Upon her retirement Julia devoted all her time doing what she loved, being there for anyone who needed her. She loved Reading, Gardening, watching Football and Wrestling, and we cannot forget her love for COOKING…
Julia was proceeded in death, by her mother, father, husband, two brothers, Fitzhugh and Jack Lee; four sisters, Iva Crocket, Mildred Flowers, Emma Adams and Helen Abell; two sons Henry and Alex Sandidge.
Julia leaves to cherish her memory, six daughter, Jessie Canada & Victoria Morris, Amherst, VA; Gloria Sales, Lynchburg, VA; Julia Minnis (Jessie), Madison Heights,VA; Hazel Charlton (Terry) Rustburg, VA; Phyllis Sandidge, Burlington,NC; five sons , Richard Sandidge(Lindell) & Donnie Sandidge, Amherst, VA; Mitchell Sandidge (Mary) & Marshall Sandidge, Lynchburg, VA; Gregory Sandidge (Christy) Madison Heights, VA; daughter in-law Fannie Sandidge, Amherst, VA; one sister in-law Bernice Sandidge Rose , Pittsburgh, PA; 37 Grandchildren; 66 Great-Grandchildren and 19 Great-Great Grandchilden, host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Rodney Harris, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Rodney Sandidge as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Smith & Sandidge Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence 175 Mill Creek Rd., Amherst.
