Joyce Townes, 73, of Forest, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at her residence.

Joyce was born on August 14, 1951, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paris and Gladys Townes, and her sister, Helen Townes.

A proud graduate of Campbell County High School, Joyce also earned her degree from Cheney University in Pennsylvania. Throughout her life, she was an active member of Tree of Life Ministries.

Joyce dedicated 45 years of her life to helping others as a board-certified substance abuse counselor at Old Dominion Job Corps in Monroe, Virginia. Her compassion and commitment to her work left a lasting impact on many lives.

She is survived by her three brothers, Paris, Payton, and Clayton Townes, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Joyce's legacy of service and love will be remembered by all who knew her.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Tree of Life Ministries. Interment will be at Archer Creek Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
