Josephine Turner Kelly, 80, entered into eternal rest peacefully in Hospice at Guggenheimer Rehabilitation Center in Lynchburg on Thursday, May 25, 2017. She was born in Amherst on February 21, 1937 to the late Joseph Turner and Sarah Euille Turner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Lewis Kelly; four sisters, Molly Braxton, Frances Banks, Mildred Ann Turner and Dorothy Thomas.
Mrs. Kelly was educated in the Amherst County School System. She joined First Baptist Church, Coolwell at an early age and after her marriage joined Rising Sun Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member until her death. During her membership she was faithful to the Senior and Combined Choirs.
She worked at Westminister Canterbury until her retirement.
Mrs. Kelly married on March 25, 1956 to the late Perry Lewis Kelly and to their union they were blessed with four daughters, all of which survive her, Gracie (Murrell) Anderson, of Forest; Sarah (Andrew) Scott, of Lynchburg, Janet (Robert) Higgins, of Evington and Gloria (Darryl) DuBose, of Lynchburg; brothers, Joseph (Cris) Turner, Jr., Melvin (Wilma) Turner and Otis (Linda) Turner; sisters, Mary (Roosevelt) Miller, Florence (Robert) Johnson, Ann Anderson and Edith Turner; eight grandchildren, Jarrett (Candice) Anderson, Ryon (Ashley) Anderson, De`Shanta (Gregory) Webb, Brittany Megginson, Robert Higgins, II, Christopher Higgins, Joseph (Dominque) Early, III and Matasha Early; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Kelly; brothers-in-law, Ardie Thomas, Sr. and Edward Braxton, Sr.; four great grandchildren, Malaysia Haythe, De`Kalaysia Cashwell, Jaylah Early and Jayden Early and a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.
