Joseph Turberville, Jr., 79, went home to be with the Lord, on July 16, 2024, at Villa Rosa Nursing Facility in Mitchellville, MD. Born on August 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph Turberville, Sr. and the late Mabell Jennings Turberville. He was twice married; he was first married to Delores Ellamae Dodson Turberville and was the widower of Christine Wiggins Turberville. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Lee Turberville Jeffries.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Sheila Dodson Horsley; a devoted and faithful granddaughter, Deborah Dodson, Gary Dodson, Shawn Dodson, and Darick Dodson (Stacey) all of Lynchburg, VA. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren whom he helped raise, Anthony Dodson (Adrienne), Danny Dodson, and Kei'anna Word Burks (Mark); and a host of other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Joseph was a minister for many years, and he loved the Lord more than anything. He knew his Bible well. He loved his family and always kept them in prayer. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and was a huge fan of the football team the Cowboys. Although Joseph was in a nursing facility, he never lost his faith; always talked about the Lord to whoever would listen.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Villa Rosa Nursing Home for all their hard work and care for over 25 years they showed towards Joseph and family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Baptist Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
