Joseph J. Franklin "Jody", of Rustburg passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 22, 1947 to the late George Franklin and Elizah Bell Jones Franklin.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Calvin, Richard, Herman, Royal, Charles, George and Phillip Franklin and one sister, Elizabeth Elliott.
Those left to cherish his memories are his three sons, Jerry C. (Joyce) Franklin, of Lynchburg, Jeffery C. Franklin, of Rustburg and Ryan (Gina) Franklin, of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Cheryl Thornhill, District Heights, MD; three brothers, Johnny Franklin, of Concord, Jamie Franklin, of Lynchburg and William (Ann) Franklin, of Concord; two sisters, Sallie Turner, of Appomattox and Florence Elliott, of Concord; four grandchildren, Jeremy Collonia, Chandler Franklin, Mya Franklin and Jeffery Franklin, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Silver Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Glover, pastor, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
