Joseph D. Gilbert of Upper Darby, PA departed this life on Thursday, October 18, 2007. He was the oldest son of the late Percy and Rebecca Gilbert of Gladys, VA. He is survived by his wife, Lydia C. Gilbert; one daughter, Stephanie Gilbert; four brothers, Percy (Edith) Gilbert of Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Major (Brenda) Gilbert of Gladys, VA, John (Martha) Gilbert of Charlotte, NC and Benjamin (Ollie) Gilbert of Gladys, VA; four sisters, Elizabeth Elwin of Loudonsville, NY, Rev. Hester Easley of Evington, VA, Many Holmes of Lynchburg, VA, Louise Arnold of Danville, VA and Rosa Cunningham of Altavista, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relavtives and friends. A funeral service will be held on 11:00 A.M Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at Nix Funeral Chapel, Philadelphia, PA. The interment will be in the Indian Town Gap Veterans National Cemetery in Anneville, PA.
