Johnny William Paige, Jr, of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at VCU Medical Center.
Johnny William Paige, Jr., was born on January 31, 1951 to Mattie Walker Johnson and Rev. Johnny William Paige, Sr. (both deceased). He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lucy Vaughter and Daniel Devine Johnson; paternal grandparents, Agnes Dungeon and Samuel Paige and step-grandmother Stella Paige.
Johnny grew up in Spout Spring, VA and joined Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Carver Price High School in Appomattox, VA. Johnny was involved in sports in high school, such as, basketball, baseball and football. When the family moved to Madison Heights in Johnny's senior year he continued to commute back to Appomattox to graduate with his classmates in 1969. He served in the U. S. Army. After returning home he attended John Tyler Community College in Chester VA to study Mortuary Science.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Annie; his devoted son, Christopher; three grandchildren, Jasmine and Tiffany Ferrell and Jaylon Hawkins; a loving sister Valerie Paige-Clark (Frank); three sister-in-laws, Sandra Hobson (Fred), Linda Burke and Bernice Lewis; step-mother, Dorothy Jolly; two uncles, John D. Johnson (Oretha), Richard A. Johnson (Imogene); eight aunts, Viola Hampton, Willa Elliott, Delores Lewis (Lorenzo), Doris Woodson, Arneatha Hayes, Mamie Hewitt, Mary Lewis, and Constance Pinn and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Bertram L. Davis, officiating. The interment will be in the New Vine Baptist Church Cemetery.
