Obituary
John Filbert Preston, 59, of Lynchburg passed away, Sunday, March 11, 2012. He
was born to the late John William Preston and Ella Mae Brown on May 31, 1952.
Those left to cherish his memory are, five daughters, Jennifer Gumbi, of
Germany, Celeste(Marcus) Calloway, of Lynchburg, Brandy Preston, of Rustburg,
Shantel (Kevin) Payne, of Atlanta, GA and Shaneka White, of Lynchburg; two sons,
Antonio (Kettie) Robinson, of NC, James Watkins, III, of Lynchburg; two
sisters, Betty Ann Pennix and Debra Gayle Preston, both of Appomattox; four
brothers, Michael Preston, of Amherst, Ronnie and Gregory Preston, of Spout
Springs, Gilbert Preston, of Buckingham, VA and Ronnie Elliott, of Concord; and
host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Davis-Turner
Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Jones, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in the
Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior
to the funeral service and other times at 114 Winston Ridge Rd. The cortege
will assemble at 4704 Oakdale Dr. Lynchburg. Condolences may be sent to
