John Henry, Jr., 69, of Spout Spring, VA went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born November 27, 1955, to the late John Henry, Sr. and Estelle Pollard Henry. John grew up in Appomattox County and attended Appomattox County High School, where he later graduated.

He was an employee at Lynchburg Archer Creek Foundry for 30-plus years. He later retired from Norcraft Cabinetry.

John loved to watch Western movies and was a big sports fanatic who loved to watch many sports but was always faithful to his Washington Commanders.

He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, as well as a wonderful father. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lucille Ellis Henry; two sons, Julius "Lamont" Williams (Trina) of Altavista, VA, and John Carrington Henry of Appomattox, VA; one daughter, Tanya Henry of Amherst, VA; seven grandchildren, Devon Robertson of Amherst, VA, Jaedyn Henry and Dakota Henry of Appomattox, VA, and Jonah, Kevona, Addison, and Isaiah of Altavista, VA; and one great-grandchild, Kingston.

He is survived by one brother, William "Baye" Henry of Appomattox, VA; three sisters, Edmonia Langhorne (William) of Spout Spring, VA, Joyce Lee Napier of Lynchburg, VA, and Beatrice Paige (Clinton) of Concord, VA; four sisters-in-law, Diane Hammond (Sam) of Madison Heights, VA, Elaine Glover (James), Mamie Glover (Houston), and Brenda Ferguson (Fred) all of Amherst, VA; four brothers-in-law, Eddie Ellis, Jr. (Lucille), Walter Ellis (April), and Henry Ellis all of Amherst, VA, and Wayne Ellis (Yulita) of Gladstone, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends; and close friend, Clarence "Nip" Napier.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. John Baptist Church in Norwood, VA. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
