Today, Our Father Got His Wings!
John Henry Trayham, Sr., 85, of Lynchburg, Virginia, departed this life at 1600 Bedford Avenue, at an in-home hospice on April 25, 2026.
John was born on March 31, 1941, and raised by Mr. and Mrs. Hatfield.
He was united in marriage to his life partner and soulmate, Lillian J. Trayham.
John worked as a cook for 44 years at Virginia Baptist Hospital, where he earned a brick with his name engraved on it for his dedication to his job.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian. (Together Again.)
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bradley (Tommas), Latonia Ayala (Darryl); and his son, John Henry Trayham, Jr. (Melinda Trayham); eight grandchildren, Tony Trayham, Shantelle Trayham, Tiffany Bradley, Terry Trayham, Tony Ayala, Ebony Trayham Harrison, Breanna Buckley, and John Trayham, III (LJ); sixteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; three half-brothers, Robert Flood, Rodney Jefferson, and Ricky Volley; a devoted friend, Kenny Payne; and a host of other family, and friends.
Rest in peace, Father. You had a good life, were well-loved, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 02, 2026, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Service of comfort entrusted to Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
