Jessie James Horsley, Sr., 90, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born May 8, 1921 to the late Jessie James Horsley and Candace Christian Horsley. Jessie confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Galilee Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was proceed in death by two sisters, Sadie Smith and Emma Jean Horsley; one brother Edward Horsley; one son, Jessie Horsley.
Jessie attended Amherst Public Schools. He held numerous of employment positions and he was a retired Railroad worker.
He leaves to mourn five children, Charlie Earl (Phyllis) Horsley, of Alexandria, Odell (Percy) Beam, Mildred (Kenneth) Jackson, all of Lynchburg, Roger (Carolyn) Horsley, of Evington and Donald (Martha) Horsley, of Madison Heights; 14 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; a devoted lifelong friend and ex-wife Betty Oliver; three sisters-in-law, Ellen Jenkins, of Lynchburg, Anna Pennix and Gracie (Lloyd) Evans, all of Madison Heights; a loving devoted niece, Dorothy Juanita (June) Emerson, of Cleveland, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is going to be missed by his extend family at Grace Lodge and care givers.
