IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessica
Davis
June 7, 1956 – March 25, 2024
Jessica Davis transitioned from this life on March 25, 2024. She was the youngest child born to the late Jefferson and Annie Bob Walker Davis. She was a devoted Disciple of Greater Brookville Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. Jess shared her faith with fervor and always acknowledged that it was God who changed her life and sustained her through the ups and downs she encountered during her journey. She was a popular and gregarious woman who loved and lived life with every part of her being. Once Jess became a part of anyone's life, the good times, the laughter, and the love flowed!
Jess graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1974. She attended CVCC for a semester or two but decided she was ready to join the workforce. She worked for Lynchburg City Schools as a bus driver for many years before joining Lynchburg Community Action Group in their Head Start Program. She worked with the Arise program after successfully overcoming her own addictions helping many others in their journey to sobriety. She worked with differently-abled people until retiring from Horizon Behavioral Health several years ago.
Jess is survived by her siblings, T. Jeff Davis (Estelle), Alan Davis (Gail Turner), and sister, Patricia Davis Price; the son she reared and loved as her own, Dsante' Jefferson; her beloved nieces and nephews, Dianne Davis, Kimberly Burrell, Briany Price Reid (Steven), Kevin Price (Shannon Keith), Aaron Davis (Nakeya), and Renaldo Davis. Her great-nieces and nephews trumped everybody in our family!
There are over 1,000 living relatives in the Davis/Walker families, so her cousins are way too numerous to name here. Suffice it to say, Jess enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her bestie, Ramona Edwards and Mona's daughter, Nikki Payne. Jess earnestly loved her "chosen family", the Mitchells, the Disciples of Greater Brookville, Dr. Kathy Franklin and the staff of Virginia University of Lynchburg, and Jess' Horizon Behavioral Health friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Greater Brookville Church. The family will be receiving friends and family 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of floral or food donations, the family asks that a donation be made to Greater Brookville Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
