Obituary
Janie Lois Whitney, of Amherst passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at The Medical Care Center. Janie was born Feb. 6, 1931 in Amherst County to the late Roosevelt and Lillian Napier Key. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Whitney; two children, Ronald Mays and Deborah Whitney; three brothers, Harold Key, Ernest Napier and Elmer Key and one sister, Geneva Lewis.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Wayne Key, of Lynchburg, Donna Snead, of New Jersey, Jacqueline (Roy) Burgess, of Amherst, Chris (Larry) Noble, of Brooklyn, NY, Victor Whitney, of Amherst, and Brenda Mays, of Lynchburg; one sister, Elnora Branham, of Amherst; one brother, Earl Napier, of Charlottesville and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Living Word Ministries with Dr. James Camm officiating. The interment will be in New Jersey. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 Pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Expression of condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
