Obituary

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. On this Thursday, November 7, 2019, I Janet Jefferson closed my eyes to another beautiful day the Lord hath made. Be it morning, noon, evening or the twilight of the night, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I am the daughter of the late Walter M. Fore, Sr. and the late Inez Fore Taylor. I was preceded death by two brothers Charles H. Fore and Walter M. Fore, Jr., two sisters Peggy F. Harmon of Lynchburg and Gloria F. Mason of Philadelphia. Two nephews Walter M. Fore, III of Lynchburg and Warren W. Mason of Philadelphia.

I leave to cherish the celebration of my life one devoted son Temple L. Jefferson, III, daughter-in-law Lisa R. Jefferson of Dover, three grandsons Keith O. Smith of Houston, Jr., Kevin O. Smith, and Temple L. Jefferson, IV of Dover, one devoted sister Roberta Megginson of Lynchburg, one devoted sister-in-law Julia Fore, six nieces, seven nephews, and a host great and great-great grand nieces and nephews, known by all as "Aunt Jan."

I graduated from Dunbar High School and I also attended Central Virginia Community College for Psychology, which was an extension of my employment at Central Virginia Training Center where I was employed 31 years. After my retirement, I worked nine years for the Lamona Agency as a House Supervisor. I joined the First Baptist Church of South Lynchburg at an early age and worked diligently in many capacities until I moved to Delaware where I joined Mount Sinai AME Church as a watch care member. On my return to Virginia, I reunited with FBC of South Lynchburg my home church.

I would like to be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving person, who was always willing to help others when needed. I loved to read and listen to music of all kinds. I had my ups and downs with my health for many years, but my God allowed me to hold to his hand until he delivered me.

As I say my last good-bye "I pray, Almighty God our Father in Heaven who is the source of our strength and our life, to lift and be with my family, friends, and love ones now and in the days to come. Grant that they will find peace and understanding, and know that you are always with them, Amen."
