Obituary

Janet Bell Hamlet Richardson, 83, of Madison Heights, departed this life on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born October 11, 1932 to the late James & Lora Hamlet. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Major Hamlet & Henry Hamlet.
Janet confessed Christ at an early age. She was faithful member of the Piney Hill Baptist Church, Amherst, VA. Her passion was singing for the Lord and working with the youth choirs at the Piney Hill Baptist & Timothy Baptist Churches. She had over 50 years of service directing many youth to sing praises unto the Lord.
She is survived by four children, Shelia (Jesse) Harris, Sharon (Aubrey) Hughes, David (Bernice) Richardson, Jr. and Daniel (Sally) Richardson; a devoted grandson, the Rev. Darryl O. Rucker, Sr. (Shanna) and two other grandsons, Elijah Veney and Lamar Veney; three granddaughters, Shanita (Chris) Hill, Quante West and Lauren Richardson; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Fannie Oneal and Ruth Bowling; three brothers, James Hamlet, Floyd Hamlet and William Hamlet; Janet is also survived by her former husband, David Richardson, Sr. and his wife Nora along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Piney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Sherleen Scott, Officiating and Rev. Ernest Scott, Eulogist. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-7:00 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Condolence may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
