James Marvin Scott "Hoss", "Jamey" of Lynchburg departed this life to go live with Jesus on Tuesday August 21, 2012 at Guggenheimers Nursing Home. He was the husband of Willie Mae Jones Scott. Born July 30, 1937 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Samuel Scott, Jr. and Gracie Moorman Scott. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry after more than thirty-two years of service.
In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Samuel and Howard.
He is survived by his loving wife Willie Mae; one daughter, Marlo Davis (Robert, Jr.) all of Lynchburg; five sons, Marvin L. Scott, (Laverne) of Waldorf, MD, James M. Scott (Teresa) of Richmond, Warren M. Scott (Bonnie) of Lynchburg, Lewis P. Elliott, of Richmond and Lorenzo L. Elliott (Sara) Danville; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Clifton A. Scott (Barbara) and Douglas Brown, of Germany; one sister, Elenor Brown, Lynchburg; three aunts, Elaine Ramsey, of Philadelphia, Catherine Scott and Bessie Ward, both of Rustburg; eight sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. James and Willie Mae were foster parents to numerous children over the years and one god child Cheryl Arnetta Sales.
Many thanks to staff nurses, CNA's and others who made his 13 year stay at Guggenheimers a very pleasant one.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Jones, Officiating and Rev. Carlton Johnson, Pastor as Eulogist. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the residence.
