On Monday June 20, 2011 at 6:50 PM James Edward Richardson entered into eternal rest at his residence and he was surrounded by family when God called him home.
James was born on August 24, 1939 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Henderson Richardson and he is survived by his mother Annie Hendrix of Newark, NJ. Upon His retirement and relocation to Virginia he accepted Christ and was a faithful member of the Piney Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son Ronald Richardson; two brothers, Charlie Richardson and William "Boy" Hendrix.
He leaves to Cherish his memory a devoted wife, Lillie B. Richardson; two sons, Alvin Richardson (Stacie) of College Park, MD and Larry Richardson of Amherst; a devoted nephew, Calvin (Diane) Pulley and family friends, Wanda Jackson and Rennie Coveston; three brothers, Larry Richardson (Fleshia) of Rocky Mount, NC, Tony Richardson of Hampton, VA and Kenny Richardson (Chicquita) of Upper Marlboro, MD; four sisters, Carrie Richardson, Yacie Emos (Willie), Diane Williams of Newark, NJ, Lue Taylor (Bill) of Hampton, VA; three sisters-in-law, Susie Tinsley, Gladine Tinsley and Virginia Smith; three brothers-in-law, Truman Richardson, Ottie Hicks and James Tinsley; ten grandchildren, (the joy of his life) Larry, Alvin, Jr., Antoine (Mellisa), Marcus (Joi) Lamar, Bridget, Brookland and Andre (decease) Ronald, Terrell, Sean; three great grandchildren, Jhasya, Jayln, Zamya and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Piney Grove Baptist Church instead of Piney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Scott, officiating and Rev. Donald Rucker, Pastor, as Eulogist. The interment will be in the Piney Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8 Pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
