IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Alexander,
Iii
February 7, 1951 – June 30, 2024
God called our loved one, James Alexander, III home on Sunday night around 8:50 p.m. on June 30, 2024. After a long illness, God knew he was tired and worn. God sent his angels down to take him to his heavenly home. He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late James Alexander, Jr. and the late Hortense Brown Alexander.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Kervinie Alexander. To this union were born two sons, James Alexander, IV (Dashonna) and Jeremy Alexander (Natasha); two grandchildren, J'Niya Alexander and Hakeem Alexander of Lynchburg, VA; one brother, John Alexander (Barbara) of Rustburg, VA; one sister, Shirley Harmon (Thurman) of Great Falls, Maryland; and their daughter, Noell Bernardin of Canada. He is also survived by two uncles, Carl Alexander (Cordelia) of Lynchburg, VA, and Reverend Clyde Alexander of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lamore Beverly (Sherwood) of Madison Heights, VA; mother-in-law, Mrs. Katherine Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
James was retired from BWX Technologies for 19 years and served in the United States Air Force, ranked as sergeant, for 8 years. He did a tour of duty in Guam for 2 years and later was stationed at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA as a communications specialist. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Air Force Operations Center and Headquarters of the United States Air Force. He also served in the Virginia Air National Guard, headquartered at Byrd International Airport in Sandston, VA.
James was loved by all. He loved to fish, drive Mopar cars, and attend car shows. He still owns his 1972 Dodge Demon Mopar car. He was an avid Redskins fan and he loved to watch his western tv shows. He kept in touch with his former BWXT co-workers. They would talk on the phone for hours. He loved his pet fur-grandbaby, 1 year old, Leo. Leo loved to sit on his lap and at his feet. He also played baseball on a community team and traveled with teammates for several years.
The family wishes to thank Centra Health, Gentiva Hospice, and Guggenheimer Health and Rehab for their professional and caring staff for the care of our loved one.
