Obituary

James Elijah Davis, 83, of Lynchburg passed away March 26, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born May 26, 1932 to the late Philip Canada and Irene Rose Davis.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Horsley; two brothers, Tyree Davis and Robert Preston; sister, Geraldine Younger.
James was Executive Chef at Virginia Hotel, Randolph Macon and Lynchburg General Hospital and he also worked at Clifton Forge Camp during his spare time in the summers.
Edward was a very hard worker, financially wise and was blessed in overcoming obstacles in education. He was very artistic, witty, and was very humorous. His grandchildren affectionately call him "Big Daddy"
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Delmonica Humphries (Melvin), Berta Davis, James Davis, Jr., Jerome Davis (Melanie) and his baby girl Lila Davis; siblings, Gladys Evans and Virginia Davis; sister-in-law, Catherine Preston brother-in-law, William Irving; grandchildren, Stacey Davis, Eugene Davis, Lyndale Humphries, Januwaa Davis, Kizzy Brown, Dewayne Brown, Antonio Briscoe, Maurice Briscoe and Valerie Wright; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
