Obituary

Irvine Reid, Jr., of Lynchburg departed this life October 12, 2007 after a terminal illness. He was born December 21, 1954 in Amherst County. He was the son of the late Irvin Reid, Sr., and Hattie Hill Reid of Amherst, and the grandson of the late Fannie Hill of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Elizabeth Davis.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church Coolwell, Amherst Virginia. Irvine was employed with Candler Oil Company for 28 years as a Warehouse Manager where he had grown to love and worked with special friends.
He leaves to mourn his two sons, Irvine Reid, III (Anita) and Bradley Reid of Lynchburg, two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn J. Crawley (Gilbert) of Madison Heights, Hazel G. Reid of Monroe, Mrs. Mary Crawford (James) of Lynchburg, Julia A. Reid of Roanoke; two brothers, Richard W. Reid and Jimmy Reid of Amherst, one aunt, Kimmie Pollard (John) of Amherst; two devoted friends, Brenda Spinner and Gene Gallagher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007 at Davis-Turner Funeral Services with Rev. Richard Jett and Rev. Ernest Scott officiating. The interment will be in First Baptist Church Coolwell. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
