Iris Annette Smith Belgrave passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 2, 1958 in Campbell County, mother, Amanda L. Watts and father, Alroy Smith.
Iris attended schools in Campbell County and in New York city school system. As a child she attended Mt. Evergreen, Mt. Moriah and Mt. Pisgah and once relocating to Evington, Virginia she attended Mt. Pisgah CME Church.
Iris and Joseph Belgrave, Jr. were united in marriage on February 14, 2000. Iris's major employment was with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. She also worked in the school system in the school system of St. Augustine, Florida in the nutrition service department and Food Lion Grocery in the New London area.
Iris leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Joseph Belgrave, Jr. and son, Damien Smith and wife Angie; two stepsons, Christopher Belgrave (Dionne) and Joseph Belgrave, III (Cam); two stepdaugthers, Sonia Belgrave and Chevonne Belgrave; her mother, Amanda Watts and Father, Alroy Smith (Pearl); grandson, Gabriel Smith and five step grandchildren, Ashley Belgrave, Amanda Belgrave, Chayla Belgrave and Antoine Shorter and Carter Eubanks; siblings surviving to further her memory are, Kenneth Smith (Dawn), Larry Smith (Theresa), Nathalie Robb (Raymond), Pauline Watts, Chandra Watts, Mark Smith (Denise) and Angie Loving (Charles) and a host of uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Iris was highly devoted to the care of her mother and adored and looked forward to taking care of her grandson Gabe. Iris was a loving wife and was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed doing whatever was needed for her family.
