On Saturday Evening, August 16, 2014 at 1:45 PM, God closed the weary eyes of Mrs. Irene McCray and he whispered come on home, your work is finished, lay down and get your rest.
She was born in Lynchburg, to the late Love Steeples and Nannie Dews Steeples. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford McCray; three daughters, Elnora, Nancy and Collen and one son, Leonard.
She leaves to morn her lost, one daughter, Patricia Brown (Lawrence); five sons, Rev. Edward Steeples (Rosetta), Jacob Steeples, Artie White, Leroy White (Denise) and Darnell McCray (Tracy); one sister, Sarah 26 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 21, 2014 at First Church of Jesus, 3rd and Jackson St. with Elder Gary Davis, officiating.
