Obituary

Inez M. Jefferson purposed in her heart to serve and please God every day of her life. She lived her life with her devoted husband sixty-four years, Thomas Jefferson; and beloved son, Orlando Jefferson, who preceded her in life in 1975. She purposed in her life to walk in the ways of the Lord.
Inez entered this world on August 25, 1926, to Beatrice Scott-Lipscomb and Charlie Lipscomb. After the passing of her parents, her paternal Aunts, Ellen, Ruth and Alice raised Inez; and two of her siblings, Andrew Lipscomb, who preceded in her in life; and Sarah Lipscomb-Wright, who resides in a nursing home in Pittsburgh, PA. Inez also had two half-siblings: Lorenzo Brown, who preceded her in life; and Belle Jackson, who resides in Baltimore, MD.
Inez moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1949 with her husband where they owned and operated Jefferson Funeral Home. Inez and Thomas moved back to Lynchburg, VA in 1999. Inez and Thomas were active members at Brown Memorial Church, in Brooklyn, NY. Inez had been a member of 5th Street Baptist Church as a child and was happy to return and renew her membership when she returned to Lynchburg. She and Thomas were members of the Pastor's Aide Ministry and Zion Travelers Club; she enjoyed opportunities to fellowship with members.
She spent the last two years at Washington Center for the Aging in Washington, DC. Her warm personality and beautiful smile was a source of compliments from all of the staff she encountered there.
Mrs. Inez Jefferson leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Thomas Jefferson; her sisters, Sarah Wright and Belle Jackson; her first cousin, Na Sanders; her nieces, Marsha "Munazzah" Williamson, Lois "Dee" Wright, and Angela Brown; her nephews, Stanley Lipscomb, Randolph (Lolanda) Lipscomb, Ellis "Mukhtar" (Ruqayyah) Lipscomb, and Hassan (Turiya) Abdur-Raheem (formerly Vernon Lipscomb) and a host a great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 5th Street Baptist Church with Rev. J.B. Moore, officiating. The interment will be in the Forest Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM and other times at the residence. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
