Herman D. Reid, of 121 Reid's Place Amherst departed this life Monday, July 20, 2009 at Lynchburg General Hospital at 3:20 am. He was the son of the late John Reid, Jr. and Alice Burford Reid. He leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Barbara Dixon, Joan McDaniel, and Silas Mae Rose all of Amherst; one brother-in-law, Silas McDaniel of Amherst; one sister-in-law, Hazel Reid of Madison Heights; a devoted friend, Nancy Dongian of Amherst and of host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 24, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Coolwell, with Rev. Charles Frye officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
