Henry Carnell Jennings peacefully transitioned to his eternal home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Carnell was born on September 27, 1952, in Crewe, VA, a son of the late George Lynn Jennings and Agnes Morris Jennings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George L. Jennings, Dr. Charles L. Jennings, and Kerfort D. Jennings.
At a young age, Carnell attended Union Baptist Church in Crewe, VA and later the family relocated to Lynchburg. Carnell graduated from E.C. Glass High School and relocated to Hartford, CT. He enrolled in a CRT program and earned the title of Thermal Engineer upon completion of his certification in HVAC. He obtained a job with W.T. Grant as a HVAC service repairman. He later became employed with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Years later he returned to Lynchburg as a self-employed HVAC service repairman, which he continued until his health failed.
Carnell enjoyed riding motorcycles. He loved football (any team from the East), watching westerns, playing cards, listening to music, dancing, and food. His favorite dessert was his mother's homemade chocolate cake. Carnell was quite the dresser. He was a very loving brother, always looking out for his brothers and sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memories, son, Michael Reed (Lisandra), of Boston, MA; daughter, Carnetta Reed (Amon), of Anderson, SC; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Mary E. Jennings, of Lynchburg, Agnes J. Martin, of Hartford, CT, Catherine J. McLennon and Joyce J. Ford, both of Bloomfield, CT, Brenda J. Grant and Cheryl J. Spence, both of Lynchburg, Sheena J. Walker of Pleasant Grove, AL, and Zebia J. Nelson (Garrett) of Elliott City, MD. Two brothers, Joseph L. Jennings (Valerie) of Windsor, CT and Thomas E. Jennings (Lynn) of New Britain, CT; two special nephews, Randolph E. Lewis and Archie R. Lewis, both of Lynchburg; a very special friend of 52 years, Patricia Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Carnell will truly be missed by his family and friends.
