Obituary

Henry Ford Hendrix, 83, of 769 Bucks Hollow Rd. passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Henry was born on January 14, 1924 in Amherst County to the late John and Laura Hendrix. He was a member of Piney Hill Baptist Church. He retired from the US Department of Forestry. Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Lucille C. Hendrix; daughter, Sindra Haynes; two brothers, Edward and Herman Hendrix; two sisters, Yvonne H. Tinsley and Elsie H. Massie.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Dorothy Rose, Lauretta Hemmings of Lynchburg, VA and Gladine (Linwood) Richardson, of Amherst; one son, Douglas (Deloris) Hendrix, of Amherst; three sisters, Augustine Richardson, Emma (Rev. Lyman) Richardson, and Ocie Cable; one brother John (Elizabeth) Hendrix, Jr. all of Amherst; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Henry was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Piney Hill Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Clayton Poole officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the home of Lauretta Hemmings 14 Country Place Dr. Lynchburg.
