At the half-light of dawn, in her sick-bed at the Medical Care Center on Monday Morning, March 8, 2010 in Lynchburg, Virginia, Mrs. Hazel Woodruff Scott slipped quietly away form mortal life to life everlasting. She was ninety-two years old.
Hazel Woodruff Scott was the daughter of the late Talitha Cumi Davis Woodruff and Roy Lee Woodruff of Lynchburg.
She also was preceded in death by her late husband Mr. Daniel Edmund Scott. She was a member of Wingfield Baptist Church for over seventy years.
She leaves to mourn their loss three sons and one daughter, Frederick A. Scott of Washington, D.C, Dwayne L. Scott and his wife Fern of Fontana, CA; Roy Kent Scott and his wife, Regina, and Ms. Cheryl Jane Scott of both Lynchburg; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan, Barron, Tony, Marco, Robin, Jessica, Terry, Kendra, Bryan, Danielle, Sherrie, Kent, Jr., Kevin and Kameron; three great-grandchildren, Terry, Jr, AAliyah and Jaydin; one brother and four sisters, Lincoln Woodruff, Orlando Lacy, Bertha Carter, Virginia Jackson and Catherine Carroll and numerous other relatives, neighbors and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 12, 2010 at Wingfield Baptist Church with Rev. Stacey Younger officiating and Rev. Carl B. Hutcherson eulogist. The interment will be in Forest Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the residence.
