Hazel Elizabeth Jones McCloud, 82, of New Jersey, departed this life on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her sister, Nora's, residence in Roseland, Virginia. She was born June 18, 1943, to the late Vester and Mamie Jones in Amherst County, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Willie Paul McCloud; her brothers, Elmer (Zora) and Camden (Virginia) Jones; her brothers-in-law, William Henry McCloud, Frank Hagar, and Eddie Staten; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCloud; and niece, Brenda Harrison.
She is survived by her brothers, Earnest Jones and Otis Jones (Joyce); sisters, Shirley Staten, Nora Hagar, and Peggy Jones; special nieces, Latoya Harrison and Tamieca McCloud; special nephews, JuWan McCloud and Earnest McCloud; brother-in-law, James McCloud; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bell; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives, and friends.
Hazel graduated from Central High School in 1962 and moved to New Jersey, where she met her future husband, Paul. They were married in October of 1964. She was a social worker for the Essex County Social Services Department and retired after 22 years.
Hazel McCloud was a faithful servant in the work of the Lord, beginning her ministry at Deliverance Evangelistic Center under the leadership of the late founder Apostle Arturo Skinner and the late Overseer Apostle Ralph G. Shammah Nichol. Her commitment to God's house remained steadfast as she continued to serve when the ministry transitioned to Love of Jesus Deliverance New Hope under the leadership of Apostle Dawn Nichol-Manning and Bishop Dennis Manning. There, she wore many spiritual hats-faithfully singing in the choir, greeting with warmth and love, serving as one of the official mothers on the Mother's Board, and standing in the gap as a passionate prayer warrior and intercessor, and a faithful mentor of the Women of Heritage. Sister Hazel could always be counted on to call in for Tuesday night prayer, lifting up others and the concerns of the world. She also gave of herself to support youth programs, believing in the importance of nurturing young people to grow in wisdom and in the favor of the Lord. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith and service.
Hazel indeed stayed on the battlefield until the very end believing in what Jesus says, In My Father's House are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there ye may be also. Good Morning, Heaven.
