Obituary

Haywood Scott, Sr. passed away at his residence on June 18, 2018 after a battle with cancer.  He was born on December 25, 1945 to the late Grover C. and Lois Scott of Rustburg, VA.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Willie and Virginia Mason, who raised him; two brothers, Grover C. Scott, III and Phillip Mason both Rustburg, VA.

In his first six months of sickness he professed Christ under the direction and counsel of the Rev. Ollie Wilson.  When he felt good he would attend Oakmulgee Baptist Church in Bedford, VA and St. John Baptist Church, in Forest.

Haywood and his brother Grover as teenagers went to Connecticut and worked in the cotton fields for the summer and he also cut pulp wood for years.  He worked on the Garbage truck for James Nash and drove dump trucks for different ones, when he gave up the dump truck he worked for himself in the wrecker business as Scott's towing Service.

He leaves to cherish his devoted ex-wife, Paulette Scott who cared for him until his passing; four children, Angela Brown (Raymond), of Rustburg, VA, Melissa Scott, of Evington, VA, Haywood Scott, Jr., of Lynchburg and Chavez, Lewis, Sr. (Kim), of Forest, VA; two sisters, Juanita Payne (Lindburg), of Rustburg, VA and Lois Poindexter (John), of Forest, VA; devoted cousin/sister, Linda Scott (Ken); one brother, Richard Scott, of Roanoke, VA; two sisters-in-law, Phllis Griffin, of Hampton, VA and Ann Calloway, of Columbus, OH; two devoted nephews, Tracy and Travis Scott; seven grandchildren, Adrian Brown, Marquita Roberson, Takendra and LaShawna Scott, Devin Scott, Chavez and Trae Lewis; ten great-grandchildren with one being very devoted Ry'Niya Scott his pride and joyand he also had three children who he took as grandchildren, Iashia Berkley and Elijah Hubbard and Zavion Coleman; a devoted friend, A.J. Reed who could make him laugh when he felt bad also Edward Johnson who stuck by his side whenever he needed him; a devoted and special aunt, Carrie Clarke and cousin Kathy Clarke and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
