Obituary

Mr. Harvey “BooBoo” Dickerson, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA departed this life on May 14, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1946.

The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

On May 14, 2026, God sent his silent Angel to claim his faithful servant from labor to reward, our beloved, husband, father, paw, brother, cousin, and friend, Deacon Harvey Greer Dickerson, Jr., son of the late Harvey and Roberta Dickerson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Dearington Baptist Church and was a faithful member and later joined Greater Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, where Reverend Dr. Sherleen Scott pastors, until his health failed.

Harvey graduated from Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, VA as the Drum Major. He was employed at Babcock and Wilcox. Harvey loved attending church, fishing, playing bid whist with his wife and brother-in-law, Ronnie Turner, but most of all he was a Die-Hard Washington Redskins fan.

He was the husband of the late Shirley Turner Dickerson, and from the union he was blessed with four children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Trina Dickerson Robertson; grandson, Brandon Malik Dickerson; two sisters, Carolyn Dickerson and Rachel Williams; and one brother, Dennis Dickerson.

He leaves loving memories of him to be cherished by his children, Harvey “Pete” Greer Dickerson, III (Alice), Michael Shaun Dickerson (LaKeisha), Ebony Hope Dickerson; grandchildren, Joshua Roach, Courtney Roach, Lauren Wansley, Spenser and Kendall Dickerson, Michael S. Dickerson, Jr. Trinaty Glover, and Elaina Jones; one great-grandson, Messiah Devon Minor; brother, Alvin Dickerson (Alma); one sister-in-law, Evelyn Jean Jackson.

He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and children who loved him.

A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Great Peaceful Zion Baptist Church. Service of comfort entrusted to Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
