The Willis family sadly announces the passing of Harold "Bro" Willis, Jr. Harold was born on September 19, 1945, in Lowesville, VA.
Upon graduating from Central High School in Amherst, VA in 1963, Harold attended Virginia State College (VSC) in Petersburg, VA where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. He was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Nu Psi Chapter in April of 1966. Harold was a member of the VSC Marching Band and had the distinct honor of performing in several Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades in New York City. Harold was employed at General Electric in the Finance Department before relocating to Greensboro, NC to work at North Carolina A&T College. He was a strong advocate of historically black colleges and universities and an active member of the Amherst County Branch NAACP until his untimely passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Willis, Sr., and Garnette Rose Willis of Lowesville, VA, and his sister Harriette W. Jones of Cleveland, OH. Harold is survived by his brother, Roger Willis of Amherst, VA; his sister, Ruby Parrish of Madison Heights, VA as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
